International Consultant: Postpartum Prevention Hemorrhage (PPH) - Remote

Overview

The consultant will work under the direct supervision by Sandile Simelane, Population and Development Specialist, under the guidance/ co-supervision by Rinko Kinoshita, Representative, UNFPA Angola. The consultant will assess the impact of introducing a standardized PPH prevention and early detection bundle in Angola.

In Short

• Consultant will assess maternal health outcomes related to PPH management.
• Evaluate the practice of measuring blood loss using calibrated drapes.
• Measure the effectiveness of training programs in healthcare settings.
• Document barriers and enabling factors for PPH bundle implementations.
• Identify recommendations for the Ministry of Health in Angola.
• Use a mixed-methods approach for data collection.
• Travel to Angola for one week for fieldwork.
• Deliver a final report detailing research findings.
• Work remotely with occasional travel required.
• Duration of consultancy is 60 working days.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Public Health, Medicine, or related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in SRH research or programmes.
• Experience in operational or implementation research.
• Proven ability in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
• Recent publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to work in teams and manage relationships.
• Commitment to UNFPA values and diversity.
• Willingness to travel to Angola.
