Overview

The Associate Director (AD) for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is a critical position advancing our DEI strategy and fostering a culture of belonging, engagement, learning, and organization-wide collaboration on Human Rights Watch’s (HRW) DEI and Culture priorities.

In Short

  • Support the Director of People and Culture in developing HRW’s DEI strategy.
  • Project manage implementation of DEI initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and implement trainings and resources.
  • Integrate DEI best practices into core people-related processes.
  • Lead DEI-specific staff engagement initiatives.
  • Serve as a point of contact for DEI guidance and support.
  • Drive staff engagement on DEI through collaboration.
  • Identify DEI-related needs and opportunities.
  • Develop localized DEI strategies for departments.
  • Ensure inclusive and culturally competent messaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of global experience in DEI or culture-related roles.
  • Deep understanding of global DEI practices.
  • Experience in developing and delivering DEI-related education.
  • Experience with DEI councils and employee resource groups.
  • Outstanding communication and facilitation skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and integrity.
  • Able to operate autonomously with good judgment.
  • Global mindset and commitment to HRW’s mission.
