Intellectual Property Counsel - Remote

Overview

Guardant Health is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Counsel to provide guidance on IP and legal matters related to cancer diagnostics, contributing to the company’s mission of improving cancer patients' lives.

In Short

• Manage a global patent portfolio, including prosecution of patent applications.
• Collaborate on global patent and IP strategy.
• Coordinate with outside counsel regarding IP protection.
• Perform infringement and validity analyses.
• Educate scientists and employees on patent-related matters.
• Provide strategic IP counseling for research and product development.
• Support litigation and dispute efforts concerning IP.
• Assist with licensing, M&A, and commercial transactions.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Registration with the USPTO and a state bar (California preferred).
• Advanced degree in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or similar field preferred.
• 5+ years of patent prosecution experience.
• Experience with genomic data analysis methods.
• Understanding of algorithms in cancer genomics.
• Familiarity with NGS data generation methods.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork capability.
• Adaptable and flexible in a changing environment.
