Overview

General Motors is seeking qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (millwrights, pipefitters, toolmakers, and machine repairmen) to work with minimal supervision, utilizing independent judgment and problem-solving skills.

In Short

• Work under minimal supervision with independent judgment.
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical components.
• Use various tools for measuring, cutting, and assembling.
• Read and interpret blueprints for mechanical operations.
• Operate mobile equipment like forklifts and cranes.
• Determine loading requirements for rigging equipment.
• Fabricate tools and parts to exact specifications.
• Ensure quality of finished products using measuring instruments.

• Must complete General Motors hiring process requirements.

Requirements

• Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Mechanical trade or 6 years of experience.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts.
• Must complete drug testing and background checks.
• Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment.
• Ability to lift/carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Quick response to safety instructions and alarms.
