Mechanical Journeyperson (Machine Repair) - Remote

Overview

General Motors is seeking qualified Mechanical Journeypersons to perform maintenance and repair on industrial machinery with minimal supervision.

In Short

• Work under minimal supervision with a high level of independent judgement
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components
• Use various hand or power tools for mechanical tasks
• Read and interpret blueprints for mechanical operations
• Operate mobile equipment like forklifts and cranes
• Set up and operate CNC machine tools
• Ensure quality of finished products by verifying dimensions
• Must be willing to work flexible shifts and overtime
• Must pass comprehensive assessments and background checks
• Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the U.S.

Requirements

• At least six years of related experience in a Mechanical trade
• U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade is preferred
• Ability to work flexible shift hours
• Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment
• Ability to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Quick response to safety instructions and alarms
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Navigate a busy work environment
• Willingness to drive mobile equipment when needed
• Must complete the General Motors hiring process requirements
