Software Engineer/Bioinformatician - Remote

GeneDx, the world’s leading genomics diagnostics company, is seeking a Software Engineer/Bioinformatician for our Bioinformatics Platform team.

In Short

• Work with engineers and bioinformaticians to enhance bioinformatics software.
• Contribute to technical design and implementation efforts.
• Support analytical validation for new pipeline development.
• Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers.
• Own strategic deliverables and execute independently.
• Provide creative solutions to complex problems.
• Assist in establishing best practices within the team.
• Participate in software quality testing and validation.
• Ensure quality technical implementation within the platform.
• Drive execution of technical proposals.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with similar languages.
• Experience with API calls, ETL functions, and AWS services.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD.
• 3+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate.
• Understanding of bioinformatics pipeline scalability.
• Experience troubleshooting lab issues.
• Familiarity with variant calling algorithms.
• PhD preferred.
