Senior Software Engineer/Bioinformatician - Remote

Overview

GeneDx, the world’s leading genomics diagnostics company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer/Bioinformatician for our Bioinformatics Operations team. This team is primarily focused on incremental improvements to our existing Bioinformatics products as well as day-to-day support of these products.

In Short

• Work with engineers and bioinformaticians to enhance bioinformatics software.
• Lead technical design and implementation of bioinformatics workflows.
• Collaborate with non-technical team members to provide technical solutions.
• Own strategic initiatives and plan project deliveries.
• Drive design and execution of technical proposals.
• Support data scientists and software engineers in code development.
• Ensure adherence to software development best practices.
• Participate in software quality testing and validation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of team operations.
• Produce high-quality, documented code.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with other languages.
• Experience with API calls, ETL functions, and AWS services.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Understanding of bioinformatics and variant calling.
• Experience in CAP/CLIA regulated settings.
• PhD preferred.
