Senior Rust API Engineer - Remote

Overview

As a Senior Rust API Engineer at DroneSense, you will be responsible for creating and enhancing APIs that support public safety technology. You will work within a collaborative team to develop solutions that improve workflows for First Responders.

In Short

• Create and enhance RESTful, WebSocket, and MQTT based APIs using Rust
• Integrate with 3rd party services and devices using Rust
• Follow and evolve Rust development best practices
• Test and validate API changes and integrations by flying drones
• Work collaboratively within a team while managing individual projects
• Contribute to solutions that enhance community safety
• Engage with innovative tools designed for public safety agencies

Requirements

• 4+ years experience with Rust
• 5+ years building customer/partner facing APIs
• Experience with Async Rust, Tokio, Axum, Tungstenite, and WebSockets
• Knowledge of mTLS, API Keys, or other connection authentication approaches
• Ability to work well within a team but on individual projects
• Passion for working with drones, robotics, and first responders
• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
