Lead Data Engineer - Remote

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Engineer to design, implement, and manage our organization’s data architecture. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who thrives in a player-coach capacity—someone who can both architect solutions and actively contribute to their development.

In Short

• Design and lead the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions within the Azure ecosystem.
• Define and enforce data engineering standards, best practices, and architectural patterns.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance the data platform’s capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of data engineers.
• Collaborate with data science, analytics, and business teams to align data architecture with business objectives.
• Oversee the design, development, and optimization of data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Synapse, Data Factory, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Select and implement appropriate data storage solutions.
• Implement and maintain robust data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
• Ensure data quality and integrity through effective validation, cleansing, and monitoring techniques.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, including 3+ years in a technical leadership or architecture role.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong background in data warehouse architecture, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Spark for data transformation and orchestration.
• Experience with cloud-native architecture, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines in Azure.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
