Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) - Remote

Overview

Dakota is seeking a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead our global compliance strategy as we scale. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for navigating the evolving regulatory landscape of digital assets, building and managing our compliance function, and ensuring Dakota operates in full compliance with financial regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

In Short

• Lead Dakota’s journey to becoming a Money Services Business (MSB) and obtaining Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs).
• Manage compliance for Dakota’s Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) registration and transition to Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP).
• Ensure adherence to all relevant AML, KYC, and financial crime compliance requirements.
• Oversee a scalable, risk-based compliance framework covering AML, KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and reporting.
• Build and lead Dakota’s compliance function, hiring and managing a team of specialists.
• Serve as the primary liaison with U.S. and European regulatory bodies.
• Ensure timely regulatory filings, audits, and compliance reporting.
• Monitor industry developments and advise leadership on regulatory changes.
• Engage with regulatory bodies, banking partners, and auditors.
• Design compliance programs from the ground up.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in financial services, fintech, or crypto.
• Strong background in BSA/AML and financial crime compliance.
• Deep understanding of crypto-related regulations and licensing.
• Proven ability to interact with regulators and legal counsel.
• Comfortable in a fast-moving, startup environment.
• Able to translate regulatory requirements into clear policies.
