Overview

The Sales Engineer (SE) is a technical sales support position responsible for arranging pre-sales engagement to current and prospective clients. The position requires a strong technical leader who understands how their decisions impact and influence the customer’s bottom line while driving revenue for Commvault.

In Short

  • Work as part of the account team to formulate and produce territory plans, account strategies, and sales plans.
  • Anticipate technology trends and build positive relationships with external partners and internal departments.
  • Engage with customers to qualify and understand key technical, financial, operational, and business issues.
  • Establish relationships with technical decision makers and drive Technical Account Plans.
  • Collaborate on case presentations to business sponsors.
  • Demonstrate Commvault products through various methods.
  • Participate in Sales and regional meetings, contributing technical leadership.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for channel and alliance partners.
  • Continuously develop technical and market expertise.
  • Assist with product or process improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in the software or storage industry; 3+ years in a pre-sales sales engineer role.
  • Experience delivering, presenting, and selling to Enterprise/Commercial Clients.
  • Strong competitive knowledge and experience in selling data management solutions.
  • Ability to work in a rapid growth environment.
  • Basic knowledge of software licensing practices.
  • Proficiency with major open systems operating systems, hypervisors, or cloud.
  • Knowledge of enterprise applications like SAP, Oracle, etc.
  • Strong consultative selling skills.
  • Ability to work organized using tools like Salesforce.com.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field preferred.
