Overview

The Housing Specialist will work with families and individuals in need of healthcare, housing, and community support services, contributing to the mission of Community of Hope to improve health and end homelessness in Washington, DC.

In Short

  • Conduct ongoing research to compile available housing units.
  • Provide housing-related advice and consultation to case managers.
  • Develop relationships with landlords to facilitate housing options.
  • Assist clients with housing searches and negotiations.
  • Achieve at least six lease-ups per month.
  • Support landlords with community resources and referrals.
  • Provide conflict resolution and mediation services.
  • Participate in designing Life Skills curriculum and classes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in housing/homelessness preferred.
  • Experience working with landlords or connecting individuals to housing required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of local housing continuum preferred.
  • Knowledge of fair housing and tenants’ rights preferred.
  • Flexible hours required to accommodate clients.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a car required.
