Editor/Senior Editor - Remote

Overview

Bloomsbury Publishing is seeking an Editor/Senior Editor to help develop a list for a new imprint focused on speculative fiction, including fantasy, science fiction, horror, and magical realism.

In Short

• Acquire approximately 8-10 projects per year
• Develop and edit a varied range of manuscripts
• Read, evaluate, and develop materials for acquisition
• Maintain and develop relationships with authors and agents
• Work with authors on content, style, and format of publication
• Attend weekly editorial and design meetings
• Negotiate purchase of manuscripts
• Write catalog/cover copy for titles
• Collaborate with design and production teams
• Represent titles in interdepartmental meetings

Requirements

• Four-year undergraduate degree
• At least six years of editorial experience
• Excellent attention to detail and organization
• Strong knowledge of retail and library markets
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
