Overview

The Athletic is seeking a Senior Editor for one or multiple of its sports-based desks, contributing to comprehensive editorial oversight of our coverage, using data analytics to optimize performance, and partnering across the editorial organization and business teams on a range of initiatives.

In Short

• Manage a staff of reporters with an emphasis on generating news and distinct team analysis.
• Establish process and priorities for content assignments.
• Assist with the conceptual vision for the vertical.
• Work to bring a distinctive voice to all digital media products.
• Maintain understanding of subscription and engagement metrics.
• Contribute to oversight of staffing assignments and editorial resources.
• Edit and publish stories via WordPress.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in sports journalism.
• High-end knowledge of sports.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
