Editor, Adult Nonfiction - Remote

Overview

The Editor will acquire and publish serious nonfiction across multiple subject areas, overseeing the editing process from acquisition to publication.

In Short

• Acquire approximately 8 projects per year
• Develop and edit a varied range of manuscripts
• Read, evaluate, and develop materials for acquisition
• Maintain and develop relationships with authors and agents
• Provide editorial feedback to authors
• Attend weekly editorial and design meetings
• Negotiate purchase of manuscripts
• Write catalog/cover copy for titles
• Generate profit and loss estimates
• Collaborate with design and production teams

Requirements

• Four-year undergraduate degree
• Five years of editorial experience
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong knowledge of retail and library markets
• Able to manage multiple projects
• Exceptional communication skills
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
