Senior Technical Writer - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a Sr. Technical Writer with 7+ years of experience in Content Design and Technical Writing to join our dynamic Product Experience team. You will create user-focused, high-impact product content and shape the voice of Avalara's user interfaces. You will report to Director, Technical Writing.

In Short

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to define and deliver a content strategy.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and A/B testing to ensure content effectiveness.
• Audit and improve existing content for consistency, accessibility, and usability.
• Lead the creation and maintenance of style guides and content templates.
• Mentor junior writers and advocate for user-centered design principles.
• Collaborate with designers to prototype and improve content solutions.
• Partner with User Researchers to gather insights on content effectiveness.
• Establish and maintain content standards and best practices.
• Use analytics and user feedback to measure content performance.
• Work with Engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility of content solutions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Technical Writing for software products or SaaS platforms.
• Experience with user-experience principles and content influence on design.
• Experience conducting user research or usability testing.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1).
• Proficiency with content management tools and design software (e.g., Figma).
