In Short

• Responsible for reviewing outpatient clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Focus on provider education and liaison between clinical and coding departments.
• Work Monday to Friday in a hybrid remote setup.
• Collaborate with providers for documentation improvement.
• Educate on documentation standards supporting accurate coding.
• Resolve discrepancies with coding staff.
• Monitor CDI program metrics and KPIs.
• Participate in audits and compliance reviews.
• Provide feedback on documentation trends to leadership.
• Stay updated on industry standards and coding guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, or related field required.
• 5+ years of coding experience in an outpatient setting.
• Current coding certification required (e.g., CCS, CPC).
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Experience in provider education and clinical documentation training.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Proficiency with EHR systems; experience with Epic or Cerner preferred.
• Knowledge of quality reporting programs like HEDIS and MIPS.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with providers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
