Director of Engineering - Remote

Overview

The Director of Engineering is the technical backbone of the Working Families Power and Working Families Party data and engineering operation, responsible for the full spectrum of integrated data systems and managing a small team of engineers.

In Short

• Lead the engineering team and manage projects related to data systems.
• Oversee development of internal web applications and data pipelines.

Requirements

• Experience in data engineering, ideally in electoral or advocacy contexts.
• 1+ years of people management experience.
• Strong communication skills for working with non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Python and web application frameworks.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS/GCP) and CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of orchestration and transformation tools.
• Experience with columnar databases like BigQuery.
• Background in electoral, issue, or movement campaigns.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of frontend development is a plus.
