Overview

The Patient Service Coordinator II performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations under general supervision, functioning as the primary interface between the patient and providers within an outpatient Cardiology practice.

In Short

  • Performs routine administrative and clerical duties.
  • Makes patient appointments and maintains appointment records.
  • Greets and assists patients.
  • Answers telephones and assists callers.
  • Processes patient billing forms.
  • Maintains confidentiality and privacy according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Manages complex patient issues and schedules.
  • Provides assistance and training to others.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of diagnostic testing.
  • Works on special projects as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years secretarial experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to manage confidential patient information.
  • Understanding of HMO and Managed Care.
  • Experience with EPIC systems.
  • Ability to triage complex calls.
