Software Engineering Manager - Data Platform - Remote

Overview

Vannevar Labs supports people on the front lines by building tools that deter and de-escalate conflict with America's adversaries. We build software and hardware for this mission that enable our customers to maintain maritime vigilance, disrupt misinformation, and collect non-traditional intelligence.

In Short

• Lead the data platform engineering team specializing in data pipelines, data warehousing, and APIs.
• Design and build scalable, reliable data solutions for internal developers.
• Identify opportunities for improving developer experience and time-to-market.
• Collaborate with engineers and product teams to ensure effective teamwork.
• Develop and lead a strong cross-functional team.
• 3+ years of experience in leading platform engineering teams required.
• 10+ years of experience as a backend, data, or search engineer required.
• Strong expertise in ETL, data warehousing, and API design.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to access U.S.-only data systems.
• Willingness to travel to offsite and team syncs ~4 weeks per year.

Requirements

• High ethical standards for handling sensitive data.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.
• Experience with software development in AWS or other cloud services.
