OSP Engineer I - Remote

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented OSP Engineer I to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with foundational experience or education in AutoCAD, GIS, or similar tools, and a strong interest in building a career in outside plant engineering.

In Short

• Plan and design fiber optic networks, including the selection of appropriate cable types, sizes, and routing;
• Develop and optimize OSP network layouts for fiber optic cabling systems;
• Conduct site surveys to determine the best locations for cable placement and equipment;
• Identify potential conflicts with existing utilities and report any roadblocks to the design team;
• Research and verify addresses for network planning;
• Identify design violations and propose alternative routing solutions;
• Track project progress and ensure timely task completion;
• Work closely with the permitting team to ensure designs meet all permitting requirements;
• Communicate effectively with teams to support seamless project execution.

Requirements

• Foundational experience or education in AutoCAD, GIS, or similar tools;
• Strong interest in outside plant engineering;
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills;
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and contractors;
• Good communication skills;
• Willingness to conduct field surveys;
• Ability to troubleshoot network issues;
