Cancer Registry Specialist - Remote

Overview

The Cancer Registry Specialist is responsible for abstracting patient information from medical records and coding it into a database, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.

In Short

• Full-time position, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
• Abstracts patient information from various resources.
• Codes information into a database following protocols.
• Maintains record keeping systems for clinical studies.
• Reports to the Supervisor of Cancer Registry.
• Requires a high school diploma; an associate’s degree is preferred.
• Completion of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology courses is required.
• Two years of experience as a Cancer Registrar is preferred.
• CTR certification or eligibility required.
• Knowledge of standards for CoC and NAPBC is preferred.

Requirements

• High School diploma required, Associate’s degree preferred.
• Completion of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology courses required.
• Two (2) years of experience as a Cancer Registrar is preferred.
• CTR certification or CTR eligible required.
• Knowledge of standards for Commission on Cancer (CoC) and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) preferred.
• CTR certification must be obtained within 2 years of hire or date transferred into position.
• Demonstrated knowledge of clinical trials is required.
