Underwriting Manager - Remote

Overview

The primary function of the Underwriting Manager is to oversee the underwriting department for ULC including all underwriters. The position works with Secondary Marketing Dept and product development to ensure loans are underwritten and delivered to investor/agency standards. The position also works with QC Dept to ensure accuracy and compliant processes.

In Short

• Oversee underwriters and department processes for loan review.
• Ensure investor and agency adherence on all loans for salability purposes.
• Coordinate with compliance department to establish acceptable processes and compliance with applicable state and federal guidelines.
• Assist underwriters with file analysis, when necessary.
• Work with IT team regarding Encompass needs and requirement changes.
• Maintain quality and production standards as set forth by management.
• Communicate decisions to maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and customers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4-year college degree preferred.
• 5 years of leading underwriting teams required.
• Direct Endorsement (DE) and/or LAPP/SAR certifications preferred.
• Working knowledge of Encompass or other LOS systems.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Substantial Conventional and Government underwriting experience.
• Superior knowledge of property and credit underwriting requirements of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and other loan programs.
