Overview

As a Patient Advocate at Understood Care, you will support Medicare patients in navigating the healthcare system, helping them access the care they need and overcome barriers.

In Short

  • Serve as the primary contact for Medicare patients after their intake visit.
  • Educate patients on accessing healthcare services.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to online portals and referrals.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers on care planning.
  • Document care plans in internal systems.
  • Provide empathetic and culturally responsive support.
  • Prior experience in patient advocacy or related fields is required.
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, especially Medicare.
  • Comfortable using EHRs and patient messaging tools.
  • This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a patient-facing healthcare or social services role.
  • Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience supporting older adults or vulnerable populations.
  • RN, CMA or BCPA certification preferred.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Speaks Spanish, Mandarin, or other relevant languages (preferred).
  • Very well versed in technology.
  • Ability to work 9am-5pm in your local time zone.
