General Counsel - Remote

Overview

We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to oversee and manage all legal aspects of our operations globally. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with our senior leadership team, our General Counsel will be instrumental in guiding the company through an important stage of growth and development. There are a number of key challenges listed below but as a high level overview, we’re seeking regulatory, contractual, and compliance-related expertise. We’d also value a deep understanding of complex technologies, businesses including intellectual property law, data privacy, and international business, as well as demonstrated experience leading legal strategy in a fast-paced environment.

• Develop and implement legal strategies that support business goals.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state laws, as well as international regulations.
• Provide leadership and guidance to existing legal counsels.
• Oversee key contracts, including client, vendor, partnership, and licensing agreements.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate potential legal risks.
• Support executive leadership in corporate governance.
• Act as a point person for data privacy issues.
• Oversee intellectual property management.
• Provide guidance on employment and labor law matters.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying and addressing legal needs.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate/LLB with license to practice in the United States.
• Extensive previous experience in a Senior Legal or similar role.
• Expertise in commercial law, contracting, employment law, and data privacy.
• Experience with intellectual property law.
• Experience representing a company with high level stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to identifying and addressing legal needs.
• The ability to manage both company-wide and individual requirements effectively.
• A good approach to assessing and managing risk.
• A commitment to ethical standards and transparency.
