DOPS Undergraduate Research Assistant – Federal Work Study - Remote

Overview

The Division of Perceptual Studies at UVA’s School of Medicine is seeking an undergraduate Federal Work-Study student to assist on a research project investigating children’s purported past-life memories.

In Short

• Part-time position (10–20 hours/week) with remote flexibility.
• Conduct literature reviews on emotional and cognitive development in children.
• Assist in recruiting and communicating with parents of children with past-life memories.
• Support in conducting online or behavioral tasks for young participants.
• Assist with qualitative and/or quantitative data coding and documentation.
• Complete UVA Institutional Review Board training in research ethics.
• Experience or coursework in related fields preferred.
• Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with children.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and survey platforms like Qualtrics.

Requirements

• Current UVA student with Federal Work Study award.
• No licensure required.
• Experience or coursework in psychology, neuroscience, or cognitive science preferred.
• Strong communication skills and comfort with children (3-6 years old).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or survey platforms.
