Overview

The Division of Perceptual Studies at UVA’s School of Medicine is seeking a graduate Federal Work-Study student to assist in research about near-death experiences, focusing on their characteristics and impacts.

In Short

  • Part-time work-study position (10-20 hours/week).
  • Assist with research on near-death experiences.
  • Maintain SPSS database and assist in qualitative coding.
  • Create online surveys and assist in data analysis.
  • Participate in training on research protocols.
  • Must be a current UVA graduate student and Federal Work Study eligible.
  • Experience in psychology, sociology, or neuroscience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills required.
  • Remote work is possible.
  • Work on-site in Charlottesville, VA.

Requirements

  • Current UVA graduate student (Federal Work Study Eligible).
  • Degree in psychology, sociology, neuroscience, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of research methods and design.
  • Attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with software like SPSS, SAS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe.
  • Interest in the nature of consciousness research.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
