Overview

The Athletic is looking for a passionate, analytical individual with an eye for great content to join our team as a Senior Programming Editor. In this role, you’ll be responsible for curation, packaging, and distribution of original content across various channels.

In Short

• Curation and distribution of articles, live blogs, and videos.
• Shape short-term and long-term programming strategy.
• Identify content and channels to broaden reach.
• Shape communication and promotion on New York Times platforms.
• Serve as a curation expert across various platforms.
• Write and send daily push alerts.
• Monitor real-time analytics and engagement metrics.
• Assist in planning multi-platform campaigns.
• Lead discussions with newsroom editors.
• Collaborate with product, marketing, and design teams.

Requirements

• 3-5 years experience in journalism/media or digital marketing.
• Experience writing headlines and homepage packaging.
• Data-driven and analytical.
• Extensive knowledge of major professional and collegiate sports.
• Strong news judgment.
• Strong communicator.
• Experience as a homepage editor a plus.
• Experience in content programming a plus.
• Remote-based position in the US or Canada.
