• Lead and manage a high-performing team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining Smartsheet’s public APIs.
• Define and drive API strategy aligned with customer needs and business goals.
• Architect and design scalable, secure, high-performance API services.
• Foster collaboration across engineering teams to improve integration experiences.
• Develop best practices for API development and ensure platform robustness.
• Own the API lifecycle from design to ongoing maintenance and uptime.
• Mentor engineers and build a strong, cohesive, and high-performing team.
• Report progress of API initiatives to senior leadership.
• Manage on-call rotations for critical API services.
• What You Will Achieve in Your First 360 Days:
• First 30 days: Understand API infrastructure and team projects, meet stakeholders.
• 60–90 days: Optimize team performance and introduce best practices.
• 6 months: Deliver high-impact API features with measurable value.
• 360 days: Position Smartsheet as a leader in the API ecosystem.

Requirements

• 10+ years in software development, 5+ in API development/management.
• 5+ years managing engineering teams with a strong mentoring record.
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, security, versioning, and best practices.
• Proven experience in scalable architecture and cloud-based systems.
• Strong Agile experience and stakeholder communication skills.
• Passion for leadership and mentoring.
• Eligibility to work in Bulgaria long-term.
