Backend & Data Engineer - Risk & Trading - Remote

Overview

As a Backend & Data Engineer at Sleeper, you will be responsible for designing and implementing real-time data pipelines and backend micro-services that power our risk and trading platform.

In Short

• Design & implement real-time data pipelines (Python, SQLX, BigQuery).
• Build and operate backend micro-services for pricing and settlement.
• Architect a feature store for production model serving.
• Integrate streaming systems with caching layers.
• Harden CI/CD and observability for data integrity.
• Partner with data scientists for model deployment.
• Own projects from ideation to production.

Requirements

• 4+ years of backend and/or data engineering experience with Python.
• Experience designing distributed systems for high-volume workloads.
• Familiarity with stream processing and warehouse technologies.
• Willingness to learn Elixir/Erlang.
• Strong problem-solving skills in financial environments.
• Calm communicator during incidents.
• Preferred skills in ScyllaDB, Kubernetes, and observability stacks.
