Coder, Provider Practice Family Medicine and PT/OT/ST - Remote

Overview

The Coder position at Sanford Health involves serving as a resource for providers in understanding covered indications and supporting documentation, while maintaining coding compliance and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

In Short

• Work with Family & Internal Medicine and PT/OT/ST departments.
• Flexible scheduling and paid coding resources.
• Participate in coding team meetings as a subject matter expert.
• Review medical documentation and assign appropriate codes.
• Support Medicare and Commercial Carrier workflows.
• Conduct denial reviews and manage appeals.
• Ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
• Maintain accurate charge capture for physicians.
• Provide training on coding guidelines to healthcare providers.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required.
• Knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding schemes.
• Certification as RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, CCS-H, or COC required.
• Ability to interpret, analyze and abstract data/documentation.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Experience in medical terminology or human anatomy/physiology preferred.
• Must obtain coding certification within one year of hire if not certified at hire.
• Strong computer skills required.
