In Short

• Co-lead underwriting operations for new business in the small group segment.
• Evaluate employer group risk and determine pricing for level-funded plans.
• Collaborate with Sales to craft competitive proposals.
• Analyze risk factors and make data-driven decisions.
• Design and refine underwriting guidelines and processes.
• Partner with Product, Actuarial, and Customer Success teams.
• Monitor underwriting outcomes to inform pricing and risk strategies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of underwriting experience, ideally with small groups.
• Strong understanding of health insurance pricing and risk assessment.
• Comfortable taking calculated risks in a startup environment.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Highly collaborative and proactive.
• Experience in an insurtech, carrier, or TPA focused on small groups.
• Familiarity with underwriting automation tools.
• Strong data analysis skills (Excel, SQL, Looker).
