Tax Accountant I - Remote

Overview

As a Tax Accountant I at Progress, you will be part of a diverse team, responsible for non-income based taxes and regulatory filings, while gaining exposure to state, local, and federal income taxation.

In Short

• Prepare and file sales & use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions in the US and Canada
• Analyze and reconcile sales tax liability accounts
• Perform research and monitor states for changes in sales tax regulations
• Prepare and file property tax returns, annual reports, and business licenses
• Respond to notices from state tax authorities
• Assist with audits by state tax authorities
• Perform technical tax research to support tax positions
• Collaborate with finance and sales teams on sales tax matters
• Identify opportunities for process improvements
• Assist with preparation of supporting workpapers for federal and state tax returns

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel & Word
• Strong analytical, verbal/written communication, and organizational skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
