Overview

The Outpatient Coder II is responsible for analyzing and coding complex outpatient records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and reimbursement protocols.

In Short

• Analyze and code outpatient records with a minimum accuracy rate of 95%.
• Utilize electronic medical records and coding systems.
• Apply UHDDS definitions and regulatory guidelines for accurate coding.
• Communicate professionally with providers to clarify documentation.
• Code using 3M encoder or ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM book.
• Perform E/M coding for physician and facility.
• Maintain certified coding credentials and compliance.
• Participate in required hospital education programs.
• Respond to billing office queries regarding diagnoses and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Essential: CPC, COC, CCS, or CCS-P certification.
• Specialized training in medical terminology and coding.
• 2 years of demonstrated coding experience.
• Able to decipher operative reports and medical records.
• Desired: Course work in Anatomy and Physiology.
• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
