Senior Database Engineer - Remote

Overview

The Senior Database Engineer will design stable and reliable databases to meet the needs of NBCUniversal, optimizing and maintaining both new and existing database systems to ensure effective data retrieval.

• Design and maintain databases for NBCUniversal's Ad Sales Engineering team.
• Ensure database structures adhere to performance, security, and maintenance standards.
• Optimize legacy database systems and monitor database performance.
• Develop backup and disaster recovery strategies.

• Document technical standards and policies for database management.
• Stay updated on emerging database technologies.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.

• Contribute to feature development using PL/SQL/PostgreSQL.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Database Developer/Administrator.
• Experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with AWS components like RDS, S3, IAM.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and PL/pgSQL.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with database performance tuning.
• Knowledge of Git and schema evolution tools like Flyway.
