Overview

The Insurance Coordinator role consists of handling all authorizations for procedures and diagnostic studies, verification of benefits prior to the scheduled appointment for all new patients, and new patient consults.

In Short

  • Verify all new patients’ insurance benefits and verify patients out of network deductible.
  • Inform patients about their financial obligation for office visits.
  • Document authorizations and benefit information in EMR & Practice Management systems.
  • Review IME reports and alert medical staff regarding patient status.
  • Schedule procedures in satellite locations including hospitals and surgery centers.
  • Prepare surgical packets and obtain necessary medical clearances.
  • Communicate efficiently with office personnel and insurance representatives.
  • Maintain professionalism with patients and co-workers.
  • Organize work files and maintain knowledge of relevant software.
  • Handle inquiries regarding insurance authorizations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of medical insurance coordination experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Aptitude to learn new software technologies.
