Overview

As the Manager of Variant Curation, you will help the Director/Sr. Director of Variant Curation oversee the operational responsibilities of the team to ensure curation tasks are performed efficiently and accurately, while also ensuring sufficient and well-trained staff are available to meet operational needs.

• Attend operational and cross-functional meetings with various teams.
• Monitor production metrics and assign priorities to the production team.
• Manage compliance with quality assurance standards.
• Improve troubleshooting turnaround by managing resources.
• Review genetic variant data and classify variants.
• Provide operational support for the curation team.
• Establish goals and mentor team members.
• Oversee individual productivity metrics and conduct check-ins.
• Assist with personnel management tasks.
• Ensure timely completion of training requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree required (PhD preferred) in genetics or related field.
• 5+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience in genetics/variant curation.
• 3+ years of experience in variant curation.
• 2+ years in a CLIA-certified laboratory setting.
• Expertise in variant review and interpretation.
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and state regulations.
