Head of Legal - Remote

Overview

As our first in-house legal hire, you will report directly to the Managing Director and sit on the extended leadership team. You’ll establish our legal function from the ground up, advising on all aspects of the business — from regulatory compliance and healthcare law to commercial contracts, corporate governance, and risk management. You will serve as a trusted advisor across the group and work closely with external counsel when needed.

• Build and lead the in-house legal function and legal risk framework.
• Advise the Board and C-suite on legal, regulatory, and governance issues.
• Manage external legal counsel relationships efficiently.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts.
• Support licensing and collaboration agreements in healthcare.
• Advise on compliance with UK medical cannabis regulations.
• Oversee governance of a multi-entity group.
• Act as the internal lead on GDPR and data privacy matters.
• Support future funding rounds and M&A.
• Assist with managing and protecting intellectual property.

Requirements

• UK-qualified solicitor (ideally 5+ PQE) with broad in-house experience.
• Strong experience in highly regulated sectors.
• Comfort working across corporate, commercial, healthcare, and data privacy matters.
• Hands-on and pragmatic, with a business partner mindset.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with startups or high-growth environments is desirable.
