Overview

The Senior Benefits Advisor serves as a key expert within the People Team, supporting the strategic and operational management of Mercy Corps’ global benefits programs. This position provides senior-level guidance on health, welfare, retirement, wellness, and leave programs across a diverse, international workforce.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on global health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs.
  • Partner with leadership to assess and implement global benefits strategies.
  • Evaluate benefits offerings for competitiveness and alignment with budget.
  • Oversee daily administration of benefits programs, ensuring compliance.
  • Lead the RFP and renewal process for benefit vendors.
  • Develop engaging benefits communication materials for employees.
  • Conduct audits of benefit data and vendor contracts.
  • Develop benefits dashboards and financial analyses.
  • Lead the global wellness program strategy.
  • Mentor HR team members and contribute to cross-functional HR projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in global benefits strategy and operations.
  • Expertise in U.S. and international benefits compliance.
  • Experience managing benefit vendors and negotiations.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS required.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with annual filings and retirement plan compliance.
  • Familiarity with wellness program strategy preferred.
  • Multilingual capabilities desirable.
