Overview

The Patient Account Representative (PAR) is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of insurance balance patient claims in accordance with contracts and policies, working to resolve unpaid, underpaid, denied or unresolved patient accounts.

In Short

  • Responsible for processing insurance balance patient claims
  • Supports resolution of unpaid, underpaid, and denied accounts
  • Handles accounts receivable collections and payer follow-up
  • Reviews and processes payer denials and appeals
  • Posts payments and reconciles batches
  • Conducts credit balance reviews and resolutions
  • Works primarily in Epic software
  • Requires strong knowledge of medical billing operations
  • Communicates professionally with patients and payers
  • Meets individual productivity goals set by management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable software systems
  • Familiarity with medical reimbursement policies
  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively across the organization
  • Basic mathematics skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of payer landscape and medical terminology
