Overview

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an MHPSS Counsellor to provide mental health support and counseling services in Afghanistan, aiming to restore health and dignity to individuals affected by conflict and disaster.

In Short

  • Deliver one-on-one and group counseling sessions.
  • Develop psychosocial activities and community mobilization efforts.
  • Assist in training and workshop facilitation.
  • Engage with the community to promote MHPSS project activities.
  • Write reports and monitor project activities.
  • Coordinate referrals and support preventive interventions.
  • Work closely with the mental health team to develop treatment plans.
  • Facilitate group interventions and community mental health initiatives.
  • Analyze risk factors affecting mental health at the community level.
  • Adhere to IRC's professional standards and core values.

Requirements

  • Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in the humanitarian sector is an asset.
  • Proficiency in local languages and English is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English.
  • Computer skills including MS Office.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team.
