Employee Relations Lead - Remote

Overview

Instacart is looking for a strategic, business-minded Employee Relations (ER) Leader to build and lead a modern, thoughtful, and scalable ER function. This role sits within HR and reports to the Head of HRBPs, operating at the critical intersection of business partnership, risk awareness, and people strategy.

In Short

• Develop and implement Instacart’s holistic Employee Relations strategy.
• Build frameworks for managing performance concerns and conduct issues.
• Lead and advise on complex involuntary terminations.
• Conduct workplace investigations involving performance concerns.
• Act as a trusted thought partner to HRBPs and business leaders.
• Ensure compliance across exit practices and investigations.
• Identify trends in employee matters and recommend improvements.
• Develop dashboards to identify trends and reduce risk.
• Partner with Legal on employment matters.
• Support HRBPs in determining appropriate outcomes based on investigations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Employee Relations, Employment Law, or HR.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law and workplace practices.
• Experience managing complex terminations and exit discussions.
• Ability to influence senior leaders while maintaining objectivity.
• High emotional intelligence and discretion.
• Exceptional judgment and decision-making skills.
• Clear, concise communication skills.
• Systems thinker who can scale strategies.
