Software Engineer (Backend/Data) - Remote

Fathom is on a mission to use AI to understand and structure the world’s medical data, starting by making sense of the terabytes of clinician notes contained within the electronic health records of the world’s largest health systems. Our deep learning engine automates the translation of patient records into the billing codes used for healthcare provider reimbursement, a process today that costs hospitals in the US $15B+ annually and tens of billions more in errors and denied claims. In Short

• Developing data infrastructure to ingest, sanitize and normalize a broad range of medical data.
• Building performant and expressive interfaces to the data.
• Creating infrastructure for large-scale cloud-based machine learning.
• 2+ years of software engineering experience required.
• Relevant experience in backend, integrations, data pipelining, and infrastructure projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and computer science principles.
• Hands-on backend coding and systems design experience.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Bonus: Proficiency in Python or modern backend languages.
• Bonus: Experience with healthcare data and HIPAA.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software engineering experience in a company/production setting.
• Experience developing backend and data pipelining projects.
• Strong computer science principles including algorithms and databases.
• Hands-on backend coding using best practices.
• Effective communication and exceptional collaboration skills.
