Overview

As a Legal Counsel at Employment Hero, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing a broad legal portfolio, focusing on privacy, commercial agreements, and corporate law within a remote-first environment.

In Short

• Work with the legal team on privacy, product, commercial, IP, and corporate law.
• Manage key business projects including new platform features and product offerings.
• Collaborate on privacy compliance and review various commercial agreements.
• Implement and support continuous improvement of legal processes and AI systems.
• Monitor applicable laws and support global privacy and AI compliance initiatives.
• Develop compliance, incident, IP, and AI governance registers.
• Draft annual Modern Slavery Statements and support corporate compliance measures.
• Work autonomously in a remote business environment.
• Communicate complex legal issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
• Adopt a proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving.

Requirements

• A qualified solicitor certification in Australia; multi-jurisdictional experience is a bonus.
• 2+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal team.
• Experience with privacy regulations such as GDPR preferred.
• Understanding of the interplay between legal, policy, and company strategy.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial and pragmatic approach to risk management.
