Vice President of Engineering, Operations - Remote

Overview

A Vice President of Engineering, Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of an engineering organization. This position involves assisting the CTO in managing the day-to-day activities of engineering teams, ensuring smooth workflows, driving operational efficiency, and supporting the overall engineering goals of the company.

• Handle operational oversight, including staffing, cost management and service consolidation across the Engineering organization
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent to build a high-performing team
• Perform code review and provide technical guidance to team members
• Establish and maintain a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous learning within the engineering department
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to software development and data security
• Facilitate communication and collaboration within the engineering team and across departments to foster a cohesive and productive work environment
• Implement and refine engineering processes, tools, and best practices to increase efficiency and quality of work
• Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to executive leadership

Requirements

• 5 years of Engineering Operations experience preferable within the technology or fintech/web3 sectors
• Proven track record of managing large cross-functional engineering teams in dynamic environments
• Strong project management skills
• Strong understanding of engineering staffing, resource and services planning/management
• Experience with blockchain technologies, including wallet systems, transaction processing, and secure architecture design
• Proficiency in Echo Base's core tech stack:
• Backend: PHP 7.4 (monolith), Python, Go, Java (microservices)
• Frontend: React & Laravel / Blade
• Mobile Development: Native Android and iOS apps
• Blockchain: Familiarity with UTXOs, multi-signature wallets, Lightning Network, and other blockchain-related technologies
• Understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and tools (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform, Vault)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and source code management using GitLab (self-hosted)
• Deep knowledge of secure software development practices, particularly in finance or blockchain systems
