First Cook - Remote Camp in Nunavut

Overview

This position for a First Cook is based at a remote camp in Nunavut, where you will oversee kitchen operations, manage staff, and ensure food safety protocols are followed.

In Short

• Oversee daily kitchen operations at a remote camp.
• Prepare and serve high-quality meals.
• Manage and train kitchen staff.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards.
• Conduct bi-weekly inventory.
• Assist onsite medic with first aid when necessary.
• Work a rotational schedule of 28 days on, 14 days off.
• Transportation provided from Edmonton to the site.
• Must have relevant certifications and experience in the culinary field.
• Safety sensitive position requiring drug testing.

Requirements

• BC Occupational First Aid Level 3 or Advanced First Aid certification.
• Journeyperson or interprovincial Red Seal Certificate.
• SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification.
• 5+ years experience in hospitality/food service industry.
• 5+ years experience as a Chef in various culinary settings.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Menu costing and recipe card implementation experience.
• Strong kitchen management skills across multiple areas.
• Effective leadership and communication skills.
