Overview

The Junior Field Service Engineer at GE Grid Services North America is responsible for supporting HVDC/FACTS systems maintenance and troubleshooting, traveling to customer sites for both scheduled activities and emergencies.

• Perform on-site commissioning, maintenance, and repairs on HVDC and FACTS systems.
• Prepare site activities including HSE procedures and maintenance planning.
• Travel to customer sites, requiring 90% travel including international.
• Write comprehensive reports for customers post-visit.
• Support long-term service projects with major utilities.
• Continuous development in HVDC and FACTS technology.
• Utilize judgment to solve moderately complex engineering tasks.
• Collaborate with internal teams for data analysis and recommendations.
• Engage in troubleshooting of communication protocols and HV measurement devices.
• Participate in the electrification transition towards cleaner energy solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Able and willing to travel extensively.
• Experience with power electronics systems and large electric machines preferred.
• Familiarity with HV measurement devices and relay protection tests.
• Experience in commissioning and troubleshooting PLCs.
• Knowledge of HMI commissioning and communication troubleshooting.
• Experience with HV Breakers and Disconnector Switches is an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
