The PGY2 Pharmacy Residency is a one-year program designed for pharmacists to transition into clinical practice with a specific area of expertise, enhancing their skills and knowledge.

In Short

  • Transition from general residency trained pharmacist to clinical pharmacist.
  • Accelerate 3-5 years of experience into one residency year.
  • Interpret and screen medication orders for safety and efficacy.
  • Compound and dispense medications for patient administration.
  • Evaluate patients and recommend dosage regimens.
  • Attend residency meetings and comply with program requirements.
  • Engage in continuous professional study and training.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and organizational policies.
  • Document activities accurately and timely.
  • Participate in a collaborative culture focused on health equity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure as a Clinical Pharmacist in Michigan.
  • Licensure for Controlled Substances in Michigan.
  • ACLS certification required within 90 days.
  • PALS certification required within 90 days.
