Senior Purchasing Agent - Remote

Overview

The NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) is responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. The Senior Purchasing Agent will manage the procurement functions of the agency, supporting the activities of over 1,600 employees.

In Short

• Manage the procurement process for various goods and services.
• Conduct market research and process purchase orders.
• Recommend contract renewals and manage contract modifications.
• Ensure compliance with procurement regulations.
• Communicate with vendors for documentation and submissions.
• Compile reports for unit leadership.
• Update and implement procurement policies.
• Work under the supervision of the Assistant Agency Chief Contracting Officer.
• Participate in special projects and assignments.
• Eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree and 6 months of procurement experience.
• Associate degree with 18 months of relevant experience.
• High school diploma with 2.5 years of relevant experience.
• Combination of education and experience equivalent to above.
• Experience in contract negotiation or management preferred.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of procurement regulations.
• Experience with city procurement systems is a plus.
