Code & Zoning Specialist - Remote

Overview

The NYC Department of Buildings is responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. We facilitate compliant development with integrity, efficiency and professionalism. In Short

• Work with engineers, architects, and city planners to streamline code and zoning processes.
• Review applications for complex developments and ensure compliance with NYC codes.
• Assist in the drafting of Buildings Bulletins and other regulations.
• Collaborate with other city agencies on zoning issues.
• Provide training and produce internal materials on NYC Construction Codes.
• Represent the Department at inter-agency meetings.
• Engage in critical operations and high-profile project reviews.
• Address inquiries from the public and officials.
• Oversee processing of objection sheets and approvals.
• Identify operational issues and recommend improvements.

Requirements

• Valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer.
• Six years of experience in engineering or plan examining work.
• At least two years in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.
